On July 24, 1805, Frederic North, Governor of Ceylon, responded to de Carro's inquiries and noted Jonville, Barnard, and Thomas Christie, physician who introduced vaccination into Ceylon. The manuscript contains a signed, autograph note by Carro dated 1841 in which he stated that Christie was his correspondent about vaccination in Ceylon.
