- | When I was a boy, I used to run to his office. | 0:01 |
The guys liked to kid me. | 0:05
Running to a dentist, | 0:06
but he was some dentist. | 0:08
His name was Dr. Bran. | 0:10
And he always let me come five minutes early, | 0:13
just so I could see his lab. | 0:15
He let me touch things and tell me about them. | 0:19
I used to get so excited. | 0:23
I, I tell Dr. Bran I was going to be a dentist | 0:24
when I grew up | 0:27 | |
and he pat my head and say, fine, fine. | 0:28
Only he never told me how hard it was to become one. | 0:33
When I was older I learned | 0:37
he went to college for eight years | 0:39
and had to study dozens of subjects, | 0:42
not just dental ones, | 0:44
but physiology and anatomy and bacteriology. | 0:46
Of course, I didn't know that then. | 0:51
All I knew was that | 0:53 | |
going to Dr. Bran's was better than the movies. | 0:55
Somehow I, I never did become a dentist, | 0:58
but I'm sure glad Dr. Brand did. | 1:02
What he showed me about taking care of my teeth | 1:05
has given me what he calls, a smile for life. | 1:08 |
