A small group of students at the State University of Haiti (UEH) held a strike to demand the resignation of rector Pierre Marie Paquiot. When the Lavalas-controlled Ministry of Education intervened and created a new administrative council for the university, other students and members of the public questioned the university's autonomy vis-à-vis the government. Charles Tardieu, the head of the new council, denies that this was the Ministry's approved action, and accuses Radio Haiti of spreading false information.
