Summary: Letter from Alfred B. Dyer, "the late sh[eri]ff Trigg Co." to William T. Samuels, "auditor". Dyer writes that he has "asked a friend at Louisville to deposit in bank $513.64 to the credit of the treasurer of Ky. as part of any taxes that may yet be due from my self as sheriff of Trigg County for the year 1866." He writes that the check "is perhaps more than is due from me for taxes on negroes [?] for 1866" and if it is, to "please" have "balance applied to my credit on sale of runaway negro "Rosetta" sold in June 1863, Ky., which you [Samuels] say has not been paid." Verso text in pencil documents June 22, 1867 as the date the "sale of runaway negro Rosetta" was "finish[ed]".
