Collection comprises a letter Finley wrote to her mother, Ruth Finley. Topics included health matters, religious gatherings, spinning and weaving to make cloth, and visits to family members. A postscript was added to the letter, possibly by Ann's husband, that discussed the weather; pig slaughtering; planting crops of wheat, rye, and tobacco; and prices for pork, flour, and corn.
