Letter from the Chief of the province of Milan, Piero Parini, to the citizens of Milan, written probably the year after the fall of Mussolini, addressing political, economic and military issues. Piero Parini (1894-1993) was a military, political and Italian prefect. On 15 January 1944 he was appointed head of the Province of Milan and with the Federal Commissioner Vincenzo Costa created 10 large refectory (called "common Canteens") scattered throughout the city can provide at low prices about 50,000 hot meals a day. Under the protection of Parini a group of Jews belonging to the lawyer Del Vecchio lived hidden in the prefecture building.
