Art historian and archaeologist Michel-Philippe Lerebours and Harold Gaspard of the Ministry of Culture speak with J.J. Dominique about national heritage. They discuss the relationship between art history and national heritage, the challenges of protecting sites of national heritage in Haiti, the disappearance of the sites of old sugar plantations, and Vodou as national heritage. Haiti has a wealth of national heritage, but most of these sites are neither publicly identified nor protected. Saving these sites will require education of the population and legislation by the state.
