  • Circular letter of remarks by Senator F.M. Simmons (D-NC) on May 22, 1928 against the candidates supported by Tammany Hall, the Democratic political machine in New York City. "Tammany is truly unfit to lead the Progressive Democracy of America, and those who have loved Woodrow Wilson and William J. Bryan and Grover Cleveland and Samuel J. Tilden will find it impossible to follow the Tammany leadership. Millions of Democrats will revolt. No Democrat can possibly win who is too timid or to [sic] feeble to protest against the dominance of Tammany Hall."
