Second letter in three weeks from (Republican) Wilmington Postmaster W. H. Chadbourn to Senator J. C. Pritchard, attempting to correct the false impression left by his first letter, which was "published prominently in every fusionist newspaper in the state, and has been issued as a campaign document...of both the Republican and Populist state committees", regarding the "negroization" of Wilmington. "...Property owners, taxpayers and business men seriously object" to the number of Negroes holding public office in New Hanover County, and "there now exists here the most intense feeling against any sort of negro domination" and many feel that "a race conflict is imminent..."
