New tools for investigating replicated adaptive radiation (Visiting Scholar)

This project will fill an important gap in the study of adaptive radiation through the development of analytical tools for identifying and analyzing convergence among whole radiations. I will develop a quantitative measure of convergence among independently diversifying lineages and build alternative models for convergence arising from similar adaptive landscapes, developmental constraints, or variation in the rate of evolution. I will then use these methods to investigate convergent patterns of phenotypic evolution in a classic case of replicated adaptive radiation – the Anolis lizards of the Greater Antilles.
