Father Freud Jean of OPL was part of the Haitian delegation to South Africa in 1998. In this conversation with Jean Dominique, Jean discusses South Africa under the leadership of the African National Congress after the end of apartheid. He describes how the townships served as incubators for popular resistance, both armed and non-violent resistance by grassroots organizations seeking Black liberation, divisions within the ANC nowadays, and how the ANC addresses the issue of South Africa's multi-ethnic, multilingual society. Jean and Dominique also compare resistance in South Africa to the democratic movement in Haiti.
