Summary of a report to the Livingston County Court regarding the public sale and purchase of Mingo, a self-liberated boy, 1865 May 24 :manuscript.

Summary of a report from Theodore Thompson, the late sheriff of Livingston County, Kentucky, to the Livingston County Court, regarding the public sale "on a credit of twelve months" of a "negro boy named Mingo as a runaway slave" on May 4th, 1863 for the "sum of four hundred and one dollars". J.W. Cade, with John Webb acting as his surety, purchased and enslaved Mingo. Expenses related to the re-enslavement of Mingo are tabulated in the summary and include a "jailer's fee", "medical expenses", and a "sheriff commission"; interest is added to the total. The total amount left to be paid equals $245.97. The report was examined, approved by the Court, and sent to the Kentucky Auditor's Office to certify.
