Jean Dominique ak Michèle Montas pale sou wòl jounalis nan sosyete a jounen jodiya, ak enpòtans kredibilite ak libète lapawòl.
Jean Dominique and Michèle Montas discuss the role of journalists in society and the importance of credibility and freedom of the press. There remains a fundamental discomfort or enmity between those in power and the independent press. Dominique revisits his famous metaphor as of the journalist as thermometer: breaking the thermometer does not eliminate the fever. Dominique dismisses claims that any radio station that is financed by businessmen is therefore in the service of the bourgeoisie, and discusses criticisms of Radio Haiti (particularly in the Duvalierism newspaper Le Nouveau Monde) that are based on colorism. Dominique explains the nuances of US imperialism in Haiti, and describes the November 29, 1987 electoral violence as a reaction to the poor and marginalized voting en masse.
